Doing Articles
Sep 15, 2020Hi, this is Dave Kats with Therapist Consultants, and I have a tip for you.
When you wonder why you're not rated too high on the internet. I have the reasons for you that are the three biggest reasons. Number one, Google and other search engines look for three things. The first thing they look for is pervasive presence. You have to be on Google, Bing, Yelp, Yahoo, Facebook, all the social media sites, and then your website has to be active. That's the first thing. They look for a pervasive presence. You have to be all over. The second thing they look for is that all your information is the same. If you have a different address on one site than on the other site, if you have a different phone, if you have your cell phone number on one site, you have your home phone number on another site, and a landline on another site, it all shows them that we don't know what exactly what we're talking about.
If they see two different phone numbers, why would they show this to the people that are Googling you? Because they don't know which one's right, so they'll naturally rate you real low. The first thing they look for is pervasive presence, the second thing they look for is that you have all your information the same all over the website, and the third thing they look for is signs of life. Now, let me show you what signs of life are. If you write articles and place them on your website and on your social media sites, it shows them you're still alive.
Let me ask you a question. You have a website that you haven't changed for six months. Down the block, there was a therapist that went out of business six months ago that has a website that's still up, what's the difference between you and someone who has been closed for six months? As far as the search engines are concerned, nothing. They don't know if you're open or if you're closed anymore because there's been no signs of life for six months. The best thing you can do, don't worry about the quality of articles, don't worry about the length of the articles, don't worry about the subject matter of the articles. Worry about getting articles on your website because that shows signs of life.
One investment broker once told me, before you worry about your return on your money, you should worry about the return of your money. I say to you, before you worry about the quality of what you put on your website, you got to make sure you actually put something on your website because it shows a sign of life, and something is better than nothing. If you want to keep high in the Google rankings and the other search engine rankings, make sure you always post articles on a regular basis to show them you're alive and well.
This is Dave Kats. Thanks for listening.
